Like the electro that preceded it, house music was an electronic genre that began life stateside in the 1980’s. Originating from Chicago, early house music was heavily influenced by disco, electro, and electronic pop – but what characterised it as a genre of music in its own right was the repetitive 4/4 rhythms and minimal nature of the songs.

It’s funny how sometimes local scenes can pop up and exist within their own little bubble. One such scene was ‘Bleep N Bass’ which originated from Northern English cities such as Leeds, Bradford, and Sheffield.

Trust the Europeans to take something and make it more efficient. Whilst the Techno that originated out of Detroit was about groove and soul, the continental take on Techno music was all about the polar opposite – energy and drive.
